And here is something from my hometown. The Leopodinum - baroque lecture theatre in the University of Wroclaw.

Week 14: Social networking

I am an avid social networks user - have been for a very long time. Although the network I use is not Facebook or mySpace, but one that connects with my roots.

I think it is amazing that in this day and age I can connect with people that I probably would not have even bothered to keep in touch with if I still lived in the old country. My main reasons for using the network are nostalgic.

So, what about a library on a social network? In theory it is a great idea - bringing the Library to the people; dispensing with distance; opening up to the world.

In reality it is different issue all together. Aside from resource issues, who would we target in this manner. What is our main aim? To spread our fame across the globe, or to service the people of NSW. And if it is the people of NSW then are we targeting people down the street who can't be bothered coming in, or those who cannot came in due to distance, or other issues/restrictions? If it is the second then is all this in vain? Access is still the main problem - even when it is virtual, how many people in rural NSW have broadband connections capable of dealing with this technology? I know public libraries are trying to address this, but are they any easier to get to?

Anyway, I should stop, before this pessimistic mood takes me any further.

I certainly enjoyed the course and am looking forward to web3 stuff...

In the meantime I will attempt to visit this blog whenever I have time.
